Agility Celebrates World Earth Day

Agility first participated in World Earth Day when over 60 volunteers came out on a Saturday morning to help clean a portion of a Kuwait City/Shuwakih area beach. Agility subsidiary Metal & Recycling Company (MRC) and the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (EPA) joined in the efforts. MRC helped by collecting trash and recycling a large portion of the recyclable material. Suited with gloves and environmentally friendly EPA trash bags, the group successfully cleaned up the 2km area; Agility employees collected a little over 60 bags of waste that included paper, plastic, cigarette butts, and batteries.

In 2008, Agility again celebrated World Earth Day through two themed initiatives: awareness and participation. Special screenings of An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore’s documentary on the severity of global warming, were held at the Agility Mina Abdullah facilities. At the head office in Sulabiyah, nearly 100 employees gathered to listen to a lecture given by a board member of the MRC and professor at Kuwait University on the environmental problems facing Kuwait. Agility employees also repeated the community clean-up initiative, working together to clean up areas outside Kuwait offices. In total, over 800 employees participated throughout Kuwait, and over 300 bags of trash were collected, filled with everything from paper to tire remnants to Styrofoam. All materials collected were recycled by MRC.
