Agility donates supplies after Cyclone Sidr
Cyclone Sidr struck Bangladesh in mid-November 2007. More than seven million people were affected, and between 50 to 95% of crops were damaged in the coastal areas. The cyclone also damaged power and communication networks, killed livestock and caused tidal surges. The community also faced food and water shortages.

Under the leadership of Country Manager Mohammad Awal, Agility Bangladesh took immediate action. Using the guidelines set forth by the local government disaster relief organization, Agility employees set forth to procure rice, bottled water and water purification tablets (to prevent cholera). They also collected clothing to donate to the victims. All in all, seven employees took charge, collecting and transporting the goods to those in need in affected areas of Gournadi (in the Barisal district) and Kalkini (in the Madaripur district).

"As foreign investors in Bangladesh, we felt the need to give back to those affected by the disaster," says Sarwar Ahmed, Bangladesh National Manager for Finance & IT. In total, 1,200 people received food, medicine and clothing, providing some relief in their disaster.
