Agility works with International Medical Corps for Haiti Emergency Relief Operations

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, the most destructive earthquake to hit the Caribbean in 200 years.  According to official estimates, 222,570 people were killed, 300,000 injured, 1.3 million displaced, 250,000 residencies and 30,000 commercial buildings destroyed or damaged.

Agility, along with partners from the Logistics Emergency Teams, quickly responded in joining international efforts to advance much needed humanitarian supplies to Haiti.  Working within the framework of the United Nations Logistics Cluster, Agility supported operations planning, coordination and communication for the aid pipeline coming from Santo Domingo.

In addition to supporting the UN Logistics Cluster, Agility also assisted International Medical Corps with logistics expertise. As part of their partnership, Agility deployed a trained logistician and supply chain management specialist to expand and support International Medical Corps’ Haiti Emergency Relief Operations.  Mike Bezares, Branch Manager Jacksonville, Florida, spent a little over a month helping setup its humanitarian supply chain.  Based out of neighboring Dominican Republic, Mike’s logistical skills helped with the management of all logistic functions and represented International Medical Corps at UN Logistics Cluster meetings.
Globally, Agility employees raised funds for International Medical Corps’ Haiti Emergency Relief Operations with all funds collected being matched dollar to dollar by Corporate Social Responsibility.
