Fighting in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province has led to the displacement of an estimated 2 million people.
The World Food Program (WFP) in its role as Logistics Lead has been providing key resources for UN agencies, International organizations and NGO’s to deliver their aid. As part of this function the WFP actively seeks and engages the commercial sector to donate services and assets. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is providing air transport. Agility is providing airport services, surface transport, trucks and warehousing; while cargo tracking and reporting of food and non-food donations at each collection centre is carried out by TNT staff.
Four Relief Bank collection centers have been set up: in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Azekhel (outside Peshawar). Among Agility’s contributions are cold storage for infant foods and medications in Peshawar, air charter clearance and transportation for infant foods in Karachi, and warehousing space for the Relief Bank Collection center in Karachi.
