With 550 offices in 100 countries and ten million square feet of warehouse space, many metric tons of waste are generated each year. Our goal is first to reduce how much is consumed, and then recycle and reuse as much as possible from the rest.
In 2007, we began taking major green steps in this area. Thirteen branch offices in the United States has implemented a recycling program for paper, plastic, aluminum and glass. At DDKS, a major warehousing facility in Kuwait which receives over 335 inbound containers per week, we recycled 31 tons of cartons, 19 tons of metal, and 9 tons of plastic in 2007; and saved the customers money by repairing and reusing wooden pallets. Our Singapore logistics hub recycled 210 tons of carton boxes and 24 tons of plastic waste that same year. By the end of 2008, we hope to have accomplished even greater efforts.
