On November 12, 2009, Agility received the prestigious Green Supply Chain Award for its efforts at the 2009 Supply Chain Asia Logistics awards ceremony held in Singapore.
Criteria for the 2009 Green Supply Chain Award includes these factors: outperformance of global environmental guidelines, implantation of substantial measures to improve environmental record, full integration of environmental awareness into all areas of business strategy and operations, an environmental policy supported and implemented from the top of the organization, and directing suppliers and business partners toward better environmental standards.
Some of Agility’s Green Solutions in Asia include:
- Agility is the first logistics provider in New Zealand to achieve the carboNZero certification. This certification requires Agility to measure, reduce and mitigate GHG emissions from its business activities.
- Agility purchases carbon credits from sustainable initiatives, such as wind farms.
- Agility New Zealand offers its customers carboNZero certified service for movement of cargo worldwide.
- In Indonesia, Agility reduced packaging requirements to seven types (from 44), re-using shipping and packaging material to reduce environment impact.
- Throughout Asia, driver training sessions are organized to reduce fuel wastage.
- In Singapore, 210 tons of carton boxes and 24 tons of plastic waste are recycled each year.
- In the Middle East, 85% of Agility’s fleet meets Euro III Emissions standards, with 70% of the fleet using retread tires, saving an estimated 168,000 gallons of oil.
