Frank Clary, Agility's corporate social responsibility leader, received special commendation from Klaus Schwab, the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, for his work in leading the Logistics Emergency Teams (LETS) initiative for the last two years. The LETs are cross-company rapid response teams that deploy during natural disasters.
The LETs initiative was launched under the auspices of the World Economic Forum in 2008 and has since been deployed in emergencies in Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Haiti, and Pakistan. It is a first-of-its-kind initiative that has set new standards for public-private partnerships in emergency relief. Frank served as chairperson of the LETs during its critical first years.
The LETs chairperson acts as chief liaison between LETs partners -- Agility, UPS, TNT, and Maersk – and as the group’s primary contact with the World Food Program, the UN agency that leads humanitarian logistics during disasters.
The chair is also responsible for all communications and operational management when LETs teams are deployed. It's a challenging job – and one that is often a 24 hour / seven day a week operation when an emergency occurs and a LETs team is in the field. Frank has been instrumental in going above and beyond to make the partnership a successful one.
