Amcor is a top three global packaging manufacturer offering a broad range of plastic, fibre, metal and glass packaging products and associated packaging related services. It operates through five substantial operating divisions across Australasia, North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Amcor’s headquarters are in Melbourne, Australia and it employs around 21,000 staff worldwide.

Customer’s Challenge

The Agility solution for Amcor was to provide a full scale international supply chain solution that would enable Amcor to focus on its core business and leave the management of it’s international supply chain to Agility.

With this in mind, Agility established the Control Tower model, which provided Amcor with a full suite of integrated supply chain services managed under one umbrella. The Control Tower allows for management of booking and invoicing, operational issues, and financial management, amongst other things, by Agility.

The Control Tower incorporated a dedicated key account management team as well as a 4PL lead logistics model – all supported by Standard Operating Procedures. This enabled Amcor to relinquish the day-to-day management of its other service providers, which in turn reduced their administrative and back room costs. It also provided Amcor with one consolidated invoice per transaction, which is sent directly to Amcor’s accounts payable system, and all these services, documents, and milestones are visible on Agility’s website.

Agility’s team of logistics experts implemented this solution on time and on budget, delivering supply chain solutions that have produced significant results for Amcor. This has also built a level of trust between both organisations – making this a true “valued partnership”.
