Alexandria, VA: Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) continues with Agility to provide food and other products for the US Military in Iraq. Agility Defense & Government Services (DGS), formerly PWC Logistics, today announced that it has been awarded a one year option on the Subsistence Prime Vendor contract for the supply and distribution of food and non-food products to US forces in Iraq. The competitively bid firm fixed price contract was awarded by the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and has a maximum value of USD 2.8 Billion over the potential one-year period. The contracting authority for this Prime Vendor award is Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP).
A leader in specialized logistics and supply chain solutions, Agility DGS will continue to handle procurement, shipping, warehousing, and distribution of food and non-food products for all service branches of the US military. The contract leverages Agility’s vast logistics and supply chain capabilities in the Gulf region, which includes more than one million square feet of climate-controlled warehouse space and 6,000 transportation assets involved in the delivery of food and supplies to US military facilities throughout Iraq.
“This contract extension is an outstanding achievement for Agility and is a reflection of our broad capabilities and infrastructure necessary to operate a global supply chain and distribution network on this massive scale,” said Toby Switzer, Chief Executive Officer of Agility DGS. “Our Performance Based Logistics (PBL) solution delivers outstanding results on similar programs and we look forward to continuing to exceed customer requirements on the Subsistence Prime Vendor contract.”
For the Subsistence Prime Vendor contract, Agility purchases food and supplies from a long list of American companies. Procurement of these items has made Agility among the largest purchasers and exporters of American processed foods.
The option year award on Subsistence Prime Vendor follows other recent Agility contract wins including two recent contracts for the US Navy for global contingency services. In June 2005, Agility DGS also secured the five-year US Army Heavy-Lift contract.
“Agility’s global capabilities, commitment to excellence and outstanding record of performance add up to a winning combination that helps us expand our scope of work for the US Department of Defense,” added Switzer. “We look forward to continuing our excellent work for the Subsistence Prime Vendor program, delivering the results that the DLA and our other customers expect from the Agility team.”
