Agility Chairman Joins World Business Leaders On Singapore’s International Advisory Council

Singapore - Tarek Sultan, Chairman and Managing Director of Agility, has accepted an invitation to join world business leaders on the Singapore Economic Development Board’s (EDB) International Advisory Council (IAC) to contribute to the strategic economic development of the Lion City.

 

“I am very honoured to be invited to join the Economic Development Board’s International Advisory Council. This is a unique forum comprising of international business leaders who have an opportunity to contribute to Singapore’s continued economic growth and prosperity.”

 

The IAC was set up in January 1995 to advise the EDB and help ensure that its strategies are relevant and effective for the international business community.

 

Dr Beh Swan Gin, Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board said, “We are honoured to have Tarek join our International Advisory Council as he represents a new generation of global business leaders. As the competitiveness of our logistics sector is an important differentiator for Singapore, EDB will benefit from his wealth of experience to help make Singapore even more attractive for businesses.”

 

Tarek Sultan is Chairman and Managing Director of Agility. Having served at Agility for more than a decade, Tarek was the key driving force behind its strategic global expansion. By assessing the potential to build a new type of global logistics company, Tarek set the organization on a path towards tactical expansion worldwide. Today Agility has over 550 offices in more than 120 countries.

 

He has also been an integral part of numerous worldwide logistics projects that included Fortune 1000 companies in electronics, retail, food and beverage, technology and oil and governments sectors. Tarek's strategic outlook has also contributed significantly to the development of customs modernization projects around the world.

 

Before taking on his leadership role at Agility, Tarek was the Managing Director of New York Associates, a regional investment banking services provider and an Associate with Southport Partners, a US-based corporate finance advisory firm specializing in the technology sector. During his tenure there, he was responsible for delivering services to Fortune 10 companies such as IBM and General Electric.

 

Tarek also serves on the Board of Directors of National Real Estate Company and the Burgan Bank in the Middle East and is on the Board of Governors for the Logistics & Transportation Industry at the World Economic Forum. He is also a member of Wharton’s International Advisory Council.
