HUNTSVILLE, Ala.: Agility Defense & Government Services (DGS) today announced the appointment of retired Army Lt. Gen. Joseph M. Cosumano Jr. as president and CEO of its Taos Industries subsidiary.
Cosumano succeeds John Hamilton, who becomes chief operating officer at Taos under a company restructuring.
Taos, based in Huntsville, provides logistics services to the Department of Defense, NATO and other customers.
“Taos offers crucial services to DoD and militaries in allied countries,” said Dan Mongeon, president and CEO of Agility DGS. “Joe’s four decades of leadership in the private sector and the Army, along with his deep ties to the Huntsville community, will help Taos strengthen its relationships with some of its most valued customers.
Before joining Taos, Cosumano held senior management roles at KBR and Alliant Tech Systems.
Cosumano served in the Army from 1970 until 2004, holding a variety of command and senior staff positions. He was commander of the U.S. Space and Missile Defense Command, program manager for the National Missile Defense program and co-lead on the Army’s 1996 Quadrennial Defense Review. In addition, he helped lead the Army transformation effort and served as director of a task force that identified vital future combat systems.
Cosumano served in the Army from 1970 until 2004, retiring from active duty as commander of the U.S. Space and Missile Defense Command, based in Huntsville. He also served in Huntsville from 1977 to 1980 with the Patriot Missile program office. He has held a variety of other command and senior staff positions, including co-lead of the Army’s 1996 Quadrennial Defense Review.
