26 November 2010

HONG KONG – Agility, a leading global logistics provider, won awards for Global 3PL of the Year and Supply Chain Innovation at the prestigious Supply Chain Asia Logistics Awards in Hong Kong.

More than 300 leading logistics and supply chain professionals gathered for the region’s premier event at the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre. In the highly competitive categories Agility took the accolades following a ballot of Supply Chain Asia magazine readers and a final decision by a panel of distinguished judges comprising Asia’s leading supply chain academics and leaders.

Collecting the awards, Hans Hickler, Agility’s CEO, Asia Pacific, said, “To be recognized as a global leader by our peers in Asia is a great honor. This award means a lot to the 32,000 employees of Agility. With our approach to delivering a wide range of logistics solutions, combined with many unique capabilities, such as chemical logistics, we look to prove to our customers every day that Agility is a valuable logistics partner for them."

To win the Global 3PL of the Year award Agility had to satisfy the judges in a range of criteria including the size and scale of the global network; IT know-how and systems; level of customer service; client partnering/track record in understanding, collaborating well with customers;  launch/upgrade of new products and services on an ongoing basis to match market demand; reliability of service and value for money; ability to handle specialized shipments; level of local knowledge of developing Asian markets;  approach to sustainability and social responsibility issues and approach to security and risk management.

The Supply Chain Innovation award was presented to Agility in recognition of the company’s practical and high-value innovation in polymer handing supply chain operations. Agility had to prove to the judging panel that over the past 12 months the company had undertaken a significant restructure of a client’s supply chain processes and/or operations leading to major value gain for the client in terms of cost savings, efficiency gains and improved customer service.  The award also recognized Agility’s use of technology to deliver the structural and tactical facets of the end-to-end supply chain solution.

The Supply Chain Asia Logistics Awards brings recognition to corporations and individuals in the fields of supply chain and logistics. Each year, the Awards ceremony brings together over 300 senior industry executives for a five-star gala dinner and Awards presentation. The event rotates between the major Asian supply chain hubs of Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.

These awards follow the ‘Logistics Award,’ which Agility won at the Lloyd’s List Asia Awards ceremony in Singapore this past October.
