Dear Mr. Brauchli:

I write to seek a further correction to this January 15, 2008 correction:

RETIRED Army Maj. Gen. Dan Mongeon, now at Public Warehousing Co. of Kuwait, was a commander of the Defense Supply Center from 1998 to 2000. A Dec. 17, 2007, page-one article  on Public Warehousing's military dealings incorrectly dated his tenure at the office from 2000 to 2005. That was the period of his tenure at the supply center's parent office, the Defense Logistics Agency.

Contrary to the assertion in the above, Maj. Gen. Mongeon did not serve in the Defense Logistics Agency from 2000 to 2005. The facts are as follows:

 • He left the Defense Supply Center in August 2000.

 • From August 2000 to July 2001, he was the Director of Sustainment, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, U.S. Army headquarters, the Pentagon.

 • From July 2001 to October 2003, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff G-4, U.S. Army Forces Command, Ft. McPherson, Ga.

 • From October 2003 to October 2005, he was the Director of Logistics, J-3, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Ft. Belvoir, Va.

To be clear: Maj. Gen. Mongeon’s service from August 2000 to October 2003 took place in U.S. Army organizations entirely unrelated to the Defense Logistics Agency and the Defense Supply Center.

Your reporter originally wrote of Maj. Gen. Mongeon: “He is a retired Army major general and was commander of the Defense Supply Center, the Pentagon contracting unit that oversees Public Warehousing’s food contract, from 2000 to 2005, when the initial contract was awarded.”

The contract to which your reporter refers was awarded by the Defense Supply Center in May 2003, when Maj. Gen. Mongeon was Deputy Chief of Staff G-4, U.S. Army Forces Command, Ft. McPherson, Ga.
