Alexandria, VA: PWC Logistics to provide warehousing, distribution, and transportation services for disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and conflict response missions to US Navy’s global contingency construction.
PWC Logistics will act as a sub-contractor to the Atlantic Contingency Constructors, LLC that was just awarded the global contingency construction contract for the US Navy. Atlantic Contingency Constructors, LLC is one of three consortiums awarded the contract by the US Department of Defense (DoD). The contract is an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for global contingency construction worth up to USD$1 Billion for the base year and four option years.
The full scope of the contract covers the supervision, equipment, materials, labor, travel and all means necessary for disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and conflict response missions to the US Navy’s global contingency construction. It also includes the capability to provide general mobilization services for personnel, equipment and material in support of Naval Construction Forces (NCF) mobilization efforts and similar mobilization efforts. As the logistics sub-contractor, PWC Logistics’ role includes warehousing, distribution, and transportation of material required for disaster relief, humanitarian aid and conflict response operations.
Kevin Ruelas, Vice President – Defense and Government Services for PWC Logistics explained: “The global contingency construction contract provides the US Navy with an immediate response capability for civilian construction. Following disaster or conflict situations, immediate rebuilding of civilian infrastructure is of utmost importance; and also very challenging. With our experienced teams, advanced logistics infrastructure and extensive global network, PWC Logistics will provide quick response to mobilize supplies, materials and other resources anywhere in the world. We look forward to supporting Atlantic Contingency Constructors, LLC in their crises response capabilities.”
This award follows other significant wins by PWC Logistics. The most recent was the Subsistence Prime Vendor contract in June 2005. The five-year Subsistence Prime Vendor contract for the provision of food and related items to the US Military is the largest Subsistence Prime Vendor Program in DoD. The US Army also awarded PWC Logistics a five-year Heavy-Lift contract in June 2005.
Ruelas added: “This contract continues to expand on PWC Logistics current work with the Department of Defense and extends our broad scope of services in the area of humanitarian logistics.”
