Alexandria, VA: The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has renewed its Defense Distribution Depot Kuwait/Southwest Asia (DDKS) contract with PWC Logistics, the leading global provider of integrated supply chain solutions. Under the contract terms, PWC Logistics will supply DLA with warehousing and distribution services using its facilities in Kuwait.
This five-year contract was awarded to PWC Logistics in 2005 and was structured as a series of one-year option periods. PWC Logistics successfully completed the first year and will continue with the second period before August 31, 2006. The total contract is worth up to US$180 million.
Kevin Ruelas, PWC Logistics’ Vice President – Defense and Government Services commented: “We are very pleased to have the DDKS contract renewed for a second year. The trust and faith that DLA has shown in our capabilities further boosts our confidence in delivering results. This says a lot about our commitment to deliver the best to our valued customers.”
DDKS handles over 70,000 different items and supports DLA operations globally. PWC Logistics offers over one million square feet of climate controlled space and another one million square feet of outdoor storage space to the DLA supported by other value-added services including asset tracking, packing for ground and air transportation, as well as IT development and implementation support.
The DDKS contract is yet another major long-term contract awarded by the DLA to PWC Logistics. In June 2005, PWC Logistics was awarded a five-year Subsistence Prime Vendor contract for the provision of food and related items to the US Military. Also in June 2005, the DLA awarded PWC Logistics a five-year Heavy-Lift contract.
